Nashville Metro Water Services has PFOA detected above EWG’s conservative guideline (0.09 ppt) per EWG historical data. Harpeth Valley Utility District (Bellevue/SW Nashville) conducted quarterly PFAS sampling in 2023 and found PFOA, PFOS, PFHxS, GenX, PFNA, and PFBS all not detected — a meaningful positive for HVUD customers. Madison Suburban UD did not report PFAS in its current available CCR. The EPA finalized a 4 ppt MCL for PFOA/PFOS in April 2024; utilities have until 2029 to comply. EWG’s exceedance count reflects the number of different contaminant types above EWG’s conservative health guidelines — not the total level of any one contaminant.
